What is LASIK?

Laser refractive surgery is an excellent alternative to correcting near sightedness, far sightedness and even astigmatism.  McKinney optometrist, Dr. Marc Woerz, has co-managed LASIK since its inception in the United States in 1996.  Dr. Woerz actually had the procedure performed on himself in 1998 and still has excellent distance vision that does not require glasses or contacts.  A big proponent of refractive surgery he highly recommends the procedure to qualified candidates.

Dr. Woerz and Dr. Wang will conduct a thorough examination to determine if you are a qualified candidate. They will take into consideration a current prescription, as well as looking at your past prescription and conduct a corneal evaluation.

Once it is determined the patient is a qualified candidate, the McKinney optometrists will refer you to our surgical partners who will perform the procedure. The patient will then be followed closely in periodic examinations for up to a year in the Mckinney Eye Clinic.  The LASIK fees are global and all of the follow up visits are included.

McKinney Eyeworks offers Care Credit a healthcare credit card with special financing for routine eyecare, LASIK procedures, eyewear and contacts. Many times on LASIK procedures the terms are at no interest charge. Many of our patients use flex spending or health savings accounts through their employers for their LASIK procedure. Enrollment for those programs is right aroung the corner and this may be an opportune time to take advantage of those savings.
